Passing your driving test is one of the most important achievements in your life. Getting your driving licence often means gaining personal freedom and independence. Like all other exams and tests we have to sit, the driving test causes a lot of anxiety and nerves. When you are tense then you are much more likely to make mistakes and therefore fail.

 

There are two factors that determine if you pass your driving test. These factors are technical ability and confidence.

 

When you train with a driving instructor they teach you a set of skills to be able to drive a car to a competent level. Once you're driving instructor is satisfied that you are up to the required level, they will advise you to book your test.

 

Confidence is just as important as technical ability when it comes to driving. When you first start learning you have a lot to concentrate on. Your brain is learning a lot of new skills and coordination, it takes a lot of time, energy and focus. Every hour you spend behind the wheel, you gain valuable experience which turns into confidence. After a significant amount of hours driving you are able to do it without much conscious effort at all. Your skill level does not really increase, it is your ability to relax and be flexible and therefore much fewer mistakes are made. This is the area that hypnotherapy can really assist with.

Changing internal beliefs

 

Once you have clearly understood what has caused the problems, you can address what you believe about yourself. A great way to do this is to image yourself taking your driving test and making mistakes. What sort of person would make these mistakes, what do you think of this person? Once you identify your negative beliefs, they can be neutralised.

 


Projecting your life into the future

How many sessions does it take?

 

A minimum of 2 sessions is required. The first session is 90 minutes in length with follow on sessions lasting 45 minutes.
